Iwi & Hapū Planning Documents
Mā te rongo, ka mōhio
Mā te mōhio, ka mārama
Mā te mārama, ka mātau
Mā te mātau, ka ora
Through knowing, comes awareness
Through awareness, comes understanding
Through understanding, comes knowledge
Through knowledge, comes life and wellbeing
This webpage contains links to iwi and hapū planning documents that describe the values and aspirations of mana whenua for their rohe. Through reading an iwi or hapū planning document, people start to understand Māori world view, Māori values, and the importance that iwi and hapū place on their relationship with the environment. This may help in their work with iwi Māori.
Iwi and hapū planning documents provide an avenue through which their interests can be considered in Council processes. There are specific legislative requirements which may place a duty on Council to take these plans into account.
