MDC achieves top score in 14 measures of Resident Satisfaction Survey

In an effort to continuously improve services and enhance the quality of life, the Manawatū District Council engages in a quarterly survey with residents. The survey is completed through a third-party company, with respondents randomly selected throughout the district and contacted by post to share their feedback on key community services, amenities, and overall satisfaction.

The same questions are asked from quarter to quarter with the responses assessed and used to help guide areas of improvement at the Council.  On an annual basis, the report is then collated and benchmarked across other Councils who also use Key Research to conduct the survey.

Over the four quarters of the 2023/2024 financial year, 501 responses were collected. Out of the 47 measures surveyed, MDC achieved the top score in 14 measures, and significantly above the average in another eight measures. Some of those top measures include; Core Services Deliverables, Overall Open/Outdoor Spaces, Overall Regulatory Services. While there will always be areas of growth, reaching the top in 14 is a high accolade.

“The survey is a valuable tool to assess what is working well and identify areas where we can make improvements, Jeena Baines, MDC’s Data, Insights and Research Analyst explains.  “It is a critical part to transparency and community engagement.”

The survey helps to guide planning, investment and staff focused areas.  For example, in the Long-Term Plan, key projects have been built into the plan aiming to improve resident satisfaction within stormwater.  A comprehensive report from the survey can be found on the website.

Thank you to those residents who were contacted and took the time to complete the survey.  Feedback to Manawatū District Council is always welcome outside of the Residents Satisfaction Survey and can be given online through the Contact Us tab on the website, through the Antenno app, or in person at the MDC office at 135 Manchester Street Feilding.
