Dog Registrations and Renewals - Now Open

Dog registrations and renewals are required annually. By completing your pooch’s registration or renewal prior to 1 August you’ll pay a discounted rate. You can register in person or new this year - online!

Whether your dog is a working dog or family pet, all dogs that live in Manawatū District must be registered through Council.

Your dog registration helps to fund a range of services like animal control, enforcement at public facilities, investigating and resolving dog issues such as barking and roaming, and contributes to maintaining the facilities for lost, stray or impounded dogs.  All of these things help to keep dog owners and the public safe.

New this year, your furry friend will be issued with a lifetime, renewable tag.  The tags are made from recycled materials and help to reduce the environmental footprint of reissuing tags year after year.  The tags are supplied as either strap or disc/loop tags.  We know not all dogs are show dogs and some like to play ‘ruff’ so if years from now you need a replacement this can be done through the MDC office.

Registrations can be completed during office hours through the MDC office at 135 Manchester Street Feilding or this year, online!

Due to the high volume of owners making use of the online system, if you do experience an error message, we suggest waiting a few minutes and trying again.  Online registrations will automatically be issued a strap tag.  If your preference is a disc/loop tag, we ask that you complete your registration in person.
