Seeking Experienced Agricultural Contractors for Cut and Carry Operations

Manawatū District Council (MDC) is inviting agricultural contractors to deliver a successful cut and carry operation at Manawatū Wastewater Treatment Plant in Feilding. We’re also seeking your skills to optimise the land for its primary purpose - irrigation of treated wastewater to land.

MDC has invested in wastewater irrigation systems for disposal of highly treated wastewater to land which have been running since 2019.

We have 5 pivot irrigators and 3 large travelling irrigators which cover approximately 203ha of council owned land. Irrigation of treated wastewater to land reduces the amount of nutrients going into the river, but also acts as a fertiliser to grow grass.

The Contract opportunity includes the production of silage, baleage and possibly hay, as well as providing services for fertiliser application, spraying of weeds and aeration of soil.
