New location for Information Centre in Feilding

Friendly Feilding is about to extend its’ friendly welcome by increasing the open days of the Information Centre as it relocates to Te Āhuru Mōwai.

Amalgamating with the services of Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL), the information centre will now be open six days a week instead of five.  The move is part of an ongoing effort to enhance access to visitor and community resources.

Not only does the information centre help to welcome and inform visitors of places to see and things to do within the Manawatū District and across New Zealand, but is a central location to purchase bus, rail and ferry tickets, while also learning about shows, events and attractions.

For over 30 years, the Information Centre was part of Feilding and District Promotion (FDP).  Moving customer facing services to the MCHL, gives FDP staff greater flexibility to be in the community and activating the District.  Although FDP’s organisational focus moves more heavily to events, community groups are still welcome to work alongside FDP and visit staff in their new location in the corner of the Market Square quadrant of Manchester Square.

“Moving the Information Centre to Te Āhuru Mōwai, will offer visitors a more convenient, accessible space to engage with a wide range of services in a centralised location”, explains Lyn Daly, MDC General Manager Community. “We are excited to support Feilding and District Promotions with the relocation of the Information Centre service so that they can build on their strong ability to connect and unite the District with activities and events.”

As of 24 February, the Information Centre will be fully operational from Te Āhuru Mōwai.  Sarah Gilbertson, General Manager of FDP is excited by the refocus, “we’ve seen huge success with events like our Eat Street Market and weekly Friday markets.  As we continue to work alongside local events and organisations throughout the Manawatū, the engagement with both the business community and locals will continue to strengthen the vibrancy of our District.”

FDP staff are currently working with MCHL staff to share their knowledge and processes for serving the community through a tourism lens.  Brochures will be displayed inside both entrances of the Manawatū Community Hub Libraries for easy visitor access and travel bookings can be made at the front desk.  Manawatū Community Hub Libraries is located at 64 Stafford Street Feilding and is open Monday to Friday 9.30am-5.30pm, Saturday 9.30am-4pm.
