Temporary Closure of Popular Slide for Repairs

Kowhai Park’s beloved big green slide is temporarily closed for essential repairs.  The closure will take place Tuesday 18 March and is expected to last approximately one month.

The decision to close the slide was made following a routine inspection, which identified the need for necessary maintenance to ensure the safety of those who use the slide.

The required sections of the slide are being locally manufactured and while the closure may cause some inconvenience, Manawatū District Council is committed to ensuring the repairs are made as quickly as possible.

During the closure of the slide, the remaining elements of the playground remain available.  Physical barriers will be installed to ensure the slide is clearly marked as off limits to users of all ages.

Kowhai Park is the premier park in Feilding offering residents and visitors a wide range of recreational activities, outdoor spaces, and family-friendly amenities.  The park includes a large duck pond, the Mason Family Rose Garden, a Storywalk, a cricket pitch and a number of significant native trees, such as totara and matai, which are forest trees reaching up to 30m high.
