Alcohol Control Areas
Many Districts in New Zealand operate 'alcohol bans' for specific public places, such as town centres. Council’s Public Places Bylaw (PDF file, 4.4 MB) identifies the following four areas as 'alcohol free' areas within our district:
- Feilding CBD (JPG file, 814.8 KB)
- Highfield Road (JPG file, 661.1 KB)
- Kowhai Park (JPG file, 658.2 KB)
- Timona Park (JPG file, 493.3 KB)
The bylaw also allows the ability to implement alcohol bans for specific one-off events if the organisers, Council and Police believe that it is necessary. Any proposed ban must be publicly notified and approved by Council at a public meeting. Please contact Council staff regarding any proposed alcohol bans.
