Dogs
Your dog(s) are welcome in our community, however we do have rules that all dog owners need to abide by.
Our Dog Control Bylaw (PDF file, 1.2 MB) sets out minimum standards for keeping and controlling a dog. This is to ensure they don't create a nuisance or become a threat to other people's health or their safety.
Our animal control officers provide a seven-day-a-week service, 24 hours a day. Give them a call at any time on 06 323 0000.
Around 7,000 dogs are registered each year in the District. The Council responds to approximately 1,200 annual complaints and carries out regular patrols and inspections.
