Upcoming Road Closures

Below is a list of upcoming road closures that are scheduled to take place in 2024 due to planned maintenance work or events being held.


Proposed Temporary Closure of Manchester Square

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Promotions Inc to conduct the Eat Street Market, proposes to close Manchester Square between FMG and YOU travel from 7.00am to 3.00pm on the following dates:

Sunday 9 February 2025

Sunday 9 March 2025

Sunday 13 April 2025

Sunday 11 May 2025

Proposed Temporary Closure of Pararorangi Road

PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting the Manawatu Car Club to conduct a Rally Sprint event, proposes to close Pararorangi Road as listed below on Saturday 8 March 2025 between 8.00am and 5.00pm.

Pararorangi Road – from Arapata Road until the road end (no exit).

Temporary Closure of Trent Street

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Trent Street between Thames Street and Severn Street including to road end will be closed from 7.00am to 6.00pm daily on Monday 9 December until Friday 13 December 2024, weather permitting, for the purpose of works to the sewerage network.

Should weather delay the works the closure will be undertaken on the next suitable days.

Resident only access will be available during the closure from Severn Street, please follow the instructions from the contractors onsite.


Temporary Closure of Kimbolton Road

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Kimbolton Road as listed below will be closed to through traffic from 7.00am to 5.00pm on Monday 2 December 2024, weather permitting, for the purpose of repair works to the courtesy crossing. Should weather delay the works the closure will be undertaken on the next suitable day.

Kimbolton Road – Closed at courtesy crossing outside Feilding Hotel. No through traffic access past Warwick Street.

Vehicle and pedestrian access to businesses and parking will still be open, with a turnaround point before worksite.


Temporary Closure of Manchester Street

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Manchester Street between Manchester Square and Fergusson Street will be closed from 7.00am to 5.00pm on Monday 25 November 2024, weather permitting, for the purpose of repair works within the carriageway. Should weather delay the works the closure will be undertaken on the next suitable day.

Pedestrian access to all businesses will still be open during the closure.


Temporary Closure of Rowe Road

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Rowe Road will be closed as listed below for the periods as stated, weather permitting, for the purpose of road repair.

Tuesday 19 November to Friday 29 November 2024– 7.00am to 7.00pm daily

Rowe Road – from its intersection with Waitohi road to its intersection with State Highway 1.

During the closure no through access will be available at the intersection of Hammond Road and Rowe Road.

Residents will have access to their properties during this closure, please follow instructions from contractors onsite and expect delays.


Temporary Closure of Pharazyn Street

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Pharazyn Street from its intersection with Roots Street East to its intersection with Reids Line West will be closed between 7.00am and 5.30pm daily starting on Tuesday 19 November until Thursday 21 November 2024, weather permitting, for the purpose of service connection installation.

Resident access will still be available, please follow the instructions from the contractors.


Temporary Closure of Edinburgh Street

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that,  Edinburgh Street will be closed as listed in order to allow Feilding Police to hold the Edinburgh Street party .

Date and time of closure: Thursday 5 December 2024 - 04.30pm to 07.30pm

Edinburgh Street  – from its intersection with Charles Street to 3 Edinburgh Street.

Resident only access to Edinburgh Street during the closure will be from Sherwill Street East.

Proposed Temporary Road Closures -  Feilding Christmas Parade

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Promotions Inc to conduct Feilding Christmas Carnival and Parade, proposes to close the following roads listed hereunder to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period as stated

Manchester Square - all internal and perimeter roads

Manchester Street – from Bowen Street to Fergusson Street

MacArthur Street – from Goodbehere Street to Stafford Street

Kimbolton Road closed to all large trucks - from its intersection with Warwick Street to its intersection with Stafford Street. Access available to car parks and businesses only.

Roads proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic from 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Fergusson Street – from South Street to Stafford Street

Stafford Street – from Fergusson Street to Kimbolton Road

Kimbolton Road – from Stafford Street to South Street

South Street – from Kimbolton Road to Fergusson Street

Proposed Temporary Closure of Manchester Street

Temporary Closure of Rongotea Road

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Rongotea Road between Number 1 Line and Kairanga Bunnythorpe Road will be closed as listed below for the periods as stated, weather permitting, for the purpose of power pole maintenance.

Time of closure - 7.00am-5.00pm daily

Dates of Closures: Monday 25 November and Tuesday 26 November 2024

Temporary Closure of Warwick Street

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Warwick Street will be closed as listed below for the periods as stated, weather permitting, for the purpose of power pole maintenance.

Tuesday 19 November 2024 – 6.00am to 6.00pm

Warwick Street – from its intersection with Fergusson Street to its intersection with Kimbolton Road.

Residents will have access to their properties during this closure, please follow instructions from contractors onsite and expect delays.


Temporary Closure of Newbury Line

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that, Newbury Line will be closed as listed below for the periods as stated, weather permitting, for the purpose of resealing works.

Friday 1 November to Tuesday 19 November 2024 – 7.00am to 5.00pm daily

Newbury Line – from its intersection with Roberts Line to its intersection with Setters Line.

Residents will have access to their properties during this closure, please follow instructions from contractors onsite and expect delays.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads - Rongotea Christmas Parade

PURSUANT to Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting Rongotea District and Lions Club to conduct the Rongotea Christmas Parade, will close the following roads listed hereunder to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period as stated

11:00am - 03:30pm Sunday 17 November 2024

Roads to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:

Mersey Street – from Severn Street to Humber Street

Thames Street – from Medway Street to Wear Street

Douglas Square

Avon street – either side of Thames Street

Tyne Street - either side of Thames Street

Wye Street – the no exit side, closed from Thames Street

During the period of closure the provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic that would otherwise use the road.


Temporary Closure of Manchester Street and Manchester Square

Manawatu District Council, for the purpose of permitting Feilding Hot Rod and Classic Car Club to conduct a charity event display of hot rods and classic cars, will close the roads listed below for the period as stated.

Date of Closure: Saturday 23 of November 2024
Time of Closure: 08.00am to 02.00pm

Manchester Street – from its intersection with Bowen Street to its intersection with Kimbolton Road
Manchester Square from its intersection with Kimbolton Road at the Feilding hotel to its intersection with Kimbolton Road at YOU travel.

During the period of closure, detours will be in place for ordinary vehicular traffic that would otherwise use these roads.


Temporary Closure of Roots Street East, Feilding

Manawatu District Council wishes to advise that Roots Street East, will be closed from its intersection with Churcher Street to the Makino Stream end of the road, starting Monday 18 March through till the end of September, in order to upgrade underground services.

The road will remain open for residents and those visiting residents. Traffic management will be in place during this time, however there may be minor delays caused by construction machinery. Please follow instructions provided by contractors.
